There is finally some news on the Springfield,
MA band Simple. They have resurfaced as Calyx In Ruin with a couple of
new members. Kid Emo is on drums, and Ichabod (formerly Brendan of Gargantua
Soul) is on vocals. After a seven month hiatus, they are starting exactly
where they left off...on the stage of Fat Cat's in Springfield on Sunday,
December 30th at 6pm.

Weapon X has been getting some rotation on 106.9 WCCC with their song
"MR. Sinister".

Mike Lasala has posted the following statement
on his website:
"With several sessions at Hayloft Recording Studios under Mike Lasala's
belt, he's decided on three songs to be released on the new demo in November
2001: "George The Gifter" - a song inspired by an elderly, self-made
millionaire who has given most of his money to charity; "I Fell"
- a plea for compassion and understanding from a person suffering with
mental depression; "Everybody Else" - a song about the frustration
and fulfillment of being an individual and following "the road less
traveled." If
all goes well, the three songs will eventually appear on a full-length
record tentatively titled "Life, Adversity, and the Pursuit of Happiness"
slated to be released in Spring 2002.

Vicious Cirkill has entered Blue Moose Studios
on October 5th for their second full length release entitled Visions.
The band hopes to have the album done by December. The track listing is
as follows: "Visions", "Black My Mind", "Affraid",
"Walk Away", "Lying In My Blood", "Give Up",
"Broken Promises", "Going Insane", and "Daddy
Pushed Away".
All
five members of Springfield, MA-based SimpLe got together for the last
time earlier today, making up an in-store appearance at Red Rocket Records.
The original date was September 11th. In related news, bassist J-Bone
is EXTREMELY excited to announce that he, along with guitarists Rai and
Russ, have formed a new project. "Teaming up with some really good
friends and letting out aggressions through music, has steam-rolled into
a full on assualt of what could possibly be the most emotional music we've
created to date. Although the project has yet to be named, expect a debut
performance in Western Mass towards the end of this year," states
an emphatic J-Bone. Details are being worked out, "...so sit back
and enjoy the silence....while it lasts!," he concluded.
The
Manchurians, who play a driving blues-based rock, have released their
new CD, titled One For All on October 8th and have a CD Release
Party at Toads Place in New Haven on Octover 12th.

This past Sunday, Suicide Dream recorded a
live demo of original songs forpromotional purposes only, but demand from
their fans has convinced them that they should release it to the public.
The CD will be sold for only $5 and will be officially released on Friday,

In tribute to all of SimpLe's fans and friends for their support over
the past few years, the band's new disc The Lost Sessions will
Finally be released! The Disc, featuring 5 un-released songs recorded
and produced by Zuess at Planet Z Studios, will finally hit the streets
on Tuesday September 11th. There are only 2 ways to get your hands on
the new disc, through the mail, or In person @ Red Rocket Records in Indian
orchard (413-543-0080). All five members of the band will be thee starting
at 7pm on 9/11. "Again, we want to thank all of our fans over the
past few years for sticking with us through thick and thin," commented
J-Bone, the band's bassist.

15 Leroy has changed their name to Hieroglyph. The band's new website
will also be up shortly.

Vicious Cirkill would like to give a huge
thank you to Guitarist Brian Canzanella, who will be leaving Vicious Cirkill
in order to go to college. "We thank you for your time with us and
all the help you gave us in the band and on our site www.viciouscirkill.com
you will be missed greatly!" states drummer Pete Mould, who went
on to say that replacing Brian was tough. However, James
Butler, from Bristol, will be his replacement. Jame's 1st show and Brian's
last show will be September 1st at the 10th annual MORRISON/EDO 20 barrel
bash 42 east pembroke street danbury.

Gargantua Soul released their new CD, Impact, to a nearly sold
out crowd at Toads Place in New Haven on the 10th. However, the disc will
officially be released to all outlets in September.
Weapon
X's official CD release party will take place at the Webster Theater in
Hartford in October or November. In addition, the band may be on Stephen
Wayne's "New Rock Saturday Night" show on 106.9 WCCC in the
near future. Promotional work with 105.9 WHCN may also be in the works.

Weapon-X, based out of Meriden, is currently finishing work on their forth-coming
CD, titled Behind These Walls. Guitarist Vincent Guarniere states,
"It's been about 18 months in the making, but it'll be well worth the
time and effort." The band will also play a benefit show for Death/Control
Denied frontman and guitarist Chuck Schuldiner, who has been diagnosed
with a brain tumor at the Wreck Room in Wallington, NJ on September 16th.

Gary,
from MegaHertz, and his wife Diane gave birth to a healthy baby girl on
July 12(Ariel Nova,5lbs 11oz &19 inches). On the same day,Nick, the
band's drummer, and his girlfriend Ann were going through some harsh times-Ann's
8 year old son was undergoing brain surgery and when all was said and
done, Jacob had a tumor the size of a peach taken out of his head. Although
he has to go through major physical and speech therapy, the doctors have
assured them that he's fine and will continue to get better. When Jacob
is 100% again, the band is going to perform a benefit show with a multitude
of other bands and the proceeds will go to the charity of his choice.

MTV used Gargantua Soul's song "Electrified" in it's show Tough Enough.
The band's new disc, tited Impact, is being Mastered in LA and
is due out August 10th at the band's release party at Toad's Place in
New Haven.

Congratulations to Megahertz guitarist Gary and his wife, who are due
to have their first baby on July 15th. The band will resume their "tour"
in August and will take them through November.

Boston-based Dissent has broken up. Mike, one of the band members has
stated, "I'd like to thank everybody for the support they've given in
the nearly five years we were together, in both our original incarnation
and the 'new' Dissent. Without you guys, we wouldn't have lasted five
months, let alone five years. Take care, and I'm sure we'll all come across
each other again soon."
Gargantua
Soul's second full-length release is scheduled to come out on August 10th.
The band's release party is that night at Toads Place in New Haven.

Vicious Cirkill will be entering Transient Sound studio in late July for
their second release. The band has added a second guitarist, Brian Canzanella,
and Tony DiFronzo has taken over on bass.

Lamb Bone bassist Eric Massimino has scored a great gig as the bass player
for the off-Broadway show "Love, Janis" about the life of Janis Joplin.
The show has been reviewed in USA Today, which mentions, "the muscular
support from an energetic live band."

Kontortion will be releasing their new CD on ROOM 101 RECORDS. The band
is expecting it to be out by the end of the summer.

Max Shred is leaving Noktorn, a thrash/death metal style band based in
Hamden. He has issued the following statement:
Due to financial obligations i am unable to stay in the band NOKTORN,
however the band will be going on strong, the noktorn.moonfruit.com site
will also be down, however the www.geocities.com/tier13/band.html site
run by Emerson noktorn's vocalist will continue to thrive. I am sorry
that this has come this way and i know lots of people will be dissapointed
but the band will move on for they rule, much respect to noktorn
Meanwhile, the band is currently looking for a new lead guitarist. Any
experienced guitarists in the southern CT area (New Haven County) who
are interested should email Autumnax@aol.com. The band's influences
range from Iron Maiden to early Metallica to Testament.

There has been a lot of news floating around SimpLe, based in Springfield,
MA, as of late. They will enter Planet Z Studios with the "infamous" Zeuss
behind the boards to finish their new record. It has been described by
bassist J-Bone as "45+ minutes of what we feel is our best material to
date." The band was looking to schedule a release party in June or July,
but right now, that is up in the air, as Derek, the band's drummer and
Keith, the band's vocalist will be parting ways with the group. J-Bone
states, "Derek is leaving for personal reasons, and Keith wants to spend
time with his family and baby girl." J-Bone, Rai & Russ WILL continue
on...but the name will more than likely change out of respect, as there
is NO bad blood between any members. J-Bone has released the following
statement:
"The
music we create together is more than just noise, it's a release of emotions,
and a part of our souls that cannot be put to rest. This is what we live
and die for, and will continue to do as long as health and circumstance
permit. We will spend the next few weeks auditioning drummers and vocalists,
and once we find the right musicians, we'll spend the remainder of the
summer rehearsing and recording new material. If you or anyone you know
might be interested in auditioning for the new SimpLe project, please
contact: Simplebone@aol.com." The band has scheduled
a final show at Fat Cat's in Springfield, Ma for Sunday, May 20th.

Megahertz bassist Petro has parted ways with the band. He has been replaced
by Todd Wilson, who was the band's bassist from 1997-1999.

Shatterbox will be hitting the studio to record two new tracks for an
upcoming SBE Records compilation disc. The band is also scheduled to put
out a new CD in the near future.

SimpLe and TrustFall will be appearing on an upcoming Quicksand tribute
album due out on End of the Circle Records (www.endofthecirlcerecords.com),
along with such artists as GlassJaw and Biohazard. SimpLe's version of
the Song "It Would Be Cooler If You Did" is scheduled to appear on the
album when it's released early this summer. SimpLe will also be returning
to the studio and working out the remainder of their new record over the
next few months. The "Still Untitled Record", is set for an early Summer
release. MP3 versions of "Transparent", "I'm Not Laughing" & "Worthington
(2001)" will be available for download on the band's website (www.simple168.com)
within the next few weeks.

For those wondering what Shatterbox has been up to, they have been writing
new songs and are in the process of recording two new songs. One of those
songs will be on an up-coming SBE Records compilation disc, due out in
mid summer or early fall. They were also audible on 106.9 WCCC earlier
this afternoon taking part in Ultimo-Destructo Thursday.

Megahertz bassist Big Jim Hoefelt states that a reunion may be in the
works for his former band, Chemical 9. C-9 disbanded in 1998, and its
members went on to form Hevy Reign, among others. There may be a possible
show package including Chemical 9 and other bands in the summer or early
fall. Possible bands for the show include Hedcase, Bent, Vicious Cirkill,
and Megahertz.

Bridgeport-based Bone Orchard is back and may be better than ever. The
band has been on hiatus since vocalist Donn Lasecki's departure and has
rearranged its line-up. Lead guitarist Pat Rauccio has taken over on vocals
and "sings with the same heartfelt intensity that he expressed through
his guitar," states the band on their website. Vince Bossio (former bassist)
has taken over on lead guitar, and the band is currently in search of

It is unfortunately official...Shoot the Dancing Bear has broken up, as
did Greedy Edna. Greedy Edna has released the following statement:

Kontortion has recorded 9 songs for an up-coming CD on Room 101 Records.
It is also possible that the band will do a split CD with Sepsis, also
from Connecticut.

Happy new year to all!
Kontortion
is entering Trod Nossel Studios in Waterbury, CT on Jan. 28th to record
their next batch of new songs and a few remakes of some older ones. They
are recording for future split releases with SEPSIS. A Spanish remix of
"W.W.J.D." may also be on the way.
Iniquity
has changed their name to Cryptic Legion, and their new website can be

SimpLe's
