Vocalist Martin O'Brien (Weapon X) and drummer Jay Mezias (Obsession) have formed a new band called Hands of Stone with keyboardist Robert Barry, guitarist Ron Bacha, and Rich Laskey on bass.

Vicious Cirkill has parted ways with guitarist James Butler and wishes him the best of luck with other projects and his life. Thad Jasonis (of the band Fierce Culture) will be their new guitarist. The band will also be taking a short hiatus so they can finish their new CD, entitled Visions. Look for Vicious Cirkill to start touring again in January or February armed with new material.

After five years in Weapon X, bassist and founding member Max Lopez has decided to leave the band. "Max is leaving for parts unknown and reasons only clearly known and understood by himeslf," states guitarist Vinnie Guarniere. The band is currently auditioning bass players. Vinnie added, "If you like to have fun, can laugh at yourself (and your band mates), are a proficient, motivated and self-sufficient player who can freely jam and improvise and are 1000% committed to making Original music your career, then give us a shout." Bassist Grimm Grimmoire of Amnesty Underground states that the band's new disc may actually be released sometime next month.

3/4 of a Hero has broken up. Former frontman Chris Mongillo has started a new band called The Farewell Address. No word on whether the other members are persuing musical ventures.

Sicboy has parted ways with Attack Records and Film Works (Toronto) after the release of one album, Artificial Flavors. Both parties have split amicably and the band is moving forward, writing new music and looking to partner with a new label for future releases,” says Drew Trudeau, bassist, citing a need to explore other avenues, creatively and otherwise.

Weapon X are in the running for the 2002 Boston Big Rock Showcase on October 6th.

Hardradio.com reports Guitarist Paul Nelson, of Liege Lord, has completed work on his track 'Speak' (Queensryche cover) for the United - We All Come Together NYC Benefit CD to be released by Frontiers/Now & Then. Among the players on the track is Norwegian vocalist PV. 'Speak' was recorded by engineer Phil Magnotti. Says Nelson, "I'm from the surrounding area and had seen and felt the affects of the 9/11 tragedy up close and I'm honored that musically I can help do some good." Congratulations to Gargantua Soul guitarist Marc Amendola for recently getting married. In other Gargantua Soul news, Jay Bozzi and Dave Arnold have left the band. Jay "didn't feel the music anymore and wanted a change," according to Phil of the G-Soul Street Team. No word as to why Dave left. Coming in on guitar is Kai Blackwood and Rob Sanzone on bass. Congratulations to drummer Pete Mould (of Vicious Cirkill) and his wife Cheryl on their new addition to their family. On April 12th, William Christopher was born. Vicious Cirkill and Dead Wait will be embarking on a small Northeast tour. Vicious Cirkill is also putting the finishing touches on a new CD.

Calyx In Ruin may be in the market for a new drummer (again), as their current drummer doesn't want to go in such a heavy direction.

Congratulations are in order for Splitshift, a band from Springfield, MA who have had mild success as the Children of the KoRn tribute, have signed a record deal. Their song "Adrian" has been getting numerous spins throughout the Hartford and Boston areas.

Ink will be recording their show at The Corner Pocket in Milford on Saturday, April 27th for their third album. The band hopes to release it during the summer.

Suicide Dream's original vocalist, Cynthia Mislivets, rejoined the band, replacing Megan Leo. The band also plans on releasing a new CD in the coming months.

Calyx In Ruin has been in the studio and also plan on releasing new music.

After a brief hiatus, American Trashed are back together and are working on a new studio album.

Congratulations to Ray Pronovost, guitarist of Springfield, MA-based Calyx In Ruin, who recently got engaged to his girlfriend Laura. In addition, the band has launched their new site at: www.calyxinruin.com, and two new songs, "Antibody" and "Orchid" are available for download on their MP3 page. The songs will also be available on their new 2-song demo, which was produced by Zeus (who produced both of SimpLe's discs).

SiMent finally released their long anticipated CD, Do You Like Me, before a crowd at Toad's Place this past Thursday, January 10th. For those who didn't make it to the show or didn't buy it, it is available at Cutler's Records in New Haven or through the band's website. MP3's are also available through the band's site.

Weapon X has been audible on both Hartford's 106.9 WCCC (1/2/02) and Boston's 107.3 WAAF (1/3/02). Jeff Slater and Jay Ferarra have been playing "Mr. Sinister", and the band were special guests. They have many shows coming up within the next couple of weeks, including an unplugged show at Sanctuary Studios in Wallingford on Sunday, January 2nd.

It's a sad day for music in New Haven, as one of the city's favorite and most popular clubs will be closing its doors tomorrow. However, vocalist Al Ouiment of The Pist says, "When there's a need for something, somehow, it emerges. If there's a need for a club this size again, somehow it will happen."
