Connecticut Area Bands

The Connecticut Area Bands website was created in October, 1998 out of anger. Anger at the music industry, anger at the fans for becoming the music industry's puppets, and anger at the bands creating the music for playing what people wanted to hear rather than what was in their hearts. That was before I, Adam Salomon, even knew there was an underground music scene here in Connecticut.

Accidentally stumbling upon an afternoon radio show on a college radio station, I began hearing something that has evaded listeners of rock and metal for the latter half of the 1990's. And that was passion. The bands that the station played were passionate about the music they recorded. It showed in the craftmanship of the lyrics and music. The songs weren't just thrown together and recorded on a Talkboy either.

These bands needed to be promoted so that people knew there was not only still talent left in rock music, but right here in their own backyards! We had conversations with radio stations such as WMRQ, WCCC, and WPLR, pleading with them to play bands from Connecticut in regular rotation. Some stations eventually got the drift and spotlight the bands that make up the scene so that everyone can hear them. Others decided it would be best to group all the bands together and play them on a "locals only" show. Nevertheless, bands are getting promoted, some are getting signed to major labels, and a few have even gone platinum!

We specialize in band promotion, as we review numerous bands, spotlight them on the website, and publicize the reviews. We also publicize gigs and update fans on what is happening with various bands. In addition, we work with numerous bands doing Graphic Design for promotional items, CDs, and Posters. We also photograph bands and design websites. Our message boards bring people together who are looking to join or form bands. And, this is what keeps Connecticut Area Bands going strong. Fans coming together to support a common cause...Great music that would otherwise be heard only by a few diehards.
